SIL uses MIL-STD-105E as the sampling standard and Acceptable Level of Quality (AQL). This effective method is widely adopted to decide whether one particular production lot is acceptable or not, with no need to inspect every single item. This standard is equivalent to all national or international standardization organizations such as ANSI/ASQZ1.4, ISO2859, NF06-022, BS 6001, DIN 40080. It specifies the amount of samples to be inspected, and suggests the maximum acceptable quantity of defective goods in the samples, unless clients specify otherwise. Our default acceptable quality level is based on Level II.
Defect Classifications
We classified the defects into three categories:
Critical defect--- problems that are likely to be hazardous or unsafe to the consumers. Our default critical defect AQL is 0.
Major Defect---problems that will lead to functional failures or reduction of product utility, or obvious appearance fault which may affect the salability of products. Our default major defect AQL is 2.5.
Minor Defect---problems that do not reduce the utility of product, but still are below the defined quality standard. Our default minor defect AQL is 4.0.
